Important: For those of you who might not be as observant as the rest of us it is now September. And that means school. And that means that my time is very very limited. So here is the plan: I will continue to do Behind the Stacks all year since I am always reading anyway. But after I post this post I am taking a break from Gossip Girl and the reality show challenge. I'll let you know when I pick it up again.

There are two kinds of people in this world- those who support a friendship between Blair and Dan and those who can't stand it. I am a fan of this friendship 100 percent. Dan isn't boring with Blair like he is with Serena. Instead him and Blair have an entertaining banter that is fraught with sexual tension. Even though I think the only person for Blair is Chuck, it is fun to watch the sparks fly between Dan and Blair. She's the only girl Dan has any chemistry with. And as friends they are perfect for each other-
Chuck Turns Violent
Disclaimer: Domestic violence or abuse of any kind is never okay nor should it be tolerated. If you find yourself in a relationship that could be dangerous, seek help. That being said the intensity of Chuck's anger is one of the best parts of the season. It contributes to his character, it makes him who he is. And one of the best things about Chuck's character is that he's unpredictable. You don't know if he's going to kiss Blair or punch the window. And that's exciting.
Jack and Chuck Vs. Thorpe
I did not see this one coming. I had trained myself to have my guard up whenever Uncle Jack made an appearance. After all his sole mission seems to be making Chuck's life miserable and gaining control of Bass industries. So when Jack and Thorpe teamed up to take Chuck down, I thought he was screwed. But then in a crazy turn of events it is revealed that Jack and Chuck were working together all along. Chuck's been betrayed and screwed over by so many people so it's great to see his uncle putting family first and helping Chuck out. Thorpe might as well give up now because one Bass is tough but two Basses- that's murder.
The Truth About the Fire in Bart's Building
Since Season 2 we believed that Bart Bass set a fire in one of his own buildings resulting in the death of one of his security guards. Now we learn that Thorpe's wife was also killed in the fire. Not only that but Thorpe was the one who locked her in the building before setting the fire himself (Bart and his wife were having an affair and apparently Thorpe has some impulse control problems) In Gossip Girl the only thing you can be certain of is that nothing is certain. And the first person to take the fall is never the person who committed the crime.
Thorpe Trying to Kill Blair
All right I admit that Thorpe luring Blair to an empty warehouse, tying her up and then dousing the building in gasoline is somewhat melodramatic. I don't care. Blair makes the perfect damsel in distress. Beautiful, defiant, brave, clever. And Chuck makes the perfect hero- arriving right in the nick of time to rescue the love of his life. And yes it gave me goosebumps even though I knew nothing would happen to Blair. Gossip Girl likes to up the stakes in the last few episodes of the season and it definitely did that with the attempted murder of Blair Waldorf.

Vanessa Publishes Dan's Novel
We all knew this day would come. Sooner or later Dan would venture forth into the world of the novel (or in this case Vanessa pushes him headfirst into it) I can only imagine that the manuscript Vanessa uncovers in Dan's apartment reveals every salacious detail of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about life on the Upper East Side. Unfortunately we will have to wait until next season to find out just how salacious.
Once again I apologize for the irregular posts. I make no apologies for the fact that I have a life but I do wish their was more time in the day. If anybody has a solution let me know. Till next time, you know you love me. xoxo Bernadette.
